This was the harsh reality Rita faced with her own real estate investments to manage while abroad. She experienced firsthand the headaches that come with property management — from emergency repairs to regular maintenance, each requiring immediate and skilled attention that was impossible to manage from a distance.
The genesis of OQ Managing Properties
Rita’s struggles planted the seeds of a vision. Returning to Portugal during the economic downturn, she saw a glaring gap in the market: a property management service that wasn’t just about maintaining buildings but about delivering peace of mind. A service that cared for properties as if the owners themselves were present.
Thus, in 2013, O Quotidiano was born. Designed from Rita’s own trials, it addressed the pain points that plague property owners worldwide.
Over the years, the company grew, Tiago joined as an investor and COO and, from managing properties on the Lisbon Coast, from Cascais to Ericeira and the capital itself, the company expanded embracing the Comporta and more recently the Algarve regions, becoming a trusted partner for discerning property owners.
The rebranding: From O Quotidiano to OQ Managing Properties
In March 2024, O Quotidiano underwent a transformation, evolving into OQ Managing Properties. This change wasn’t merely about shortening the name—it was about redefining who OQ is and what stands for.
The rebranding signified a bold leap forward. With the expansion of OQ services to the exclusive Comporta and Quinta do Lago in Algarve, OQ embraced a new chapter of growth and sophistication. The change in name reflects a streamlined, modern approach to property management, while still holding onto the personal touch and meticulous care that set it apart.
As our founder, Rita, wrote in her announcement letter:
